Rather expected game when ItalianSassari lost to Greek Peristeri in Athens 84-98 on Wednesday. Peristeri made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists. American swingman Jake Van Tubbergen (201-1998, college: GVSU) notched a double-double by scoring 27 points and 12 rebounds (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field) to lead the effort and the other American import guard Ty Nichols (190-1996, college: Keene St.) supported him with 17 points and 5 assists. Even 19 points and 5 assists by American point guard Nate Johnson (193-1998, college: Xavier) did not help to save the game for Sassari . Center Luca Vincini (203-2003, agency: Players Group) added 14 points and 8 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.
